Psychotherapy offers a safe, confidential and impartial space to talk about whatever is troubling you. Exploring your experiences and inner most thoughts and feelings with a trained professional can provide fresh perspectives on difficulties and lead to change.
As a psychodynamic psychotherapist I am interested in understanding the links between our current issues and past experiences. Often difficult experiences from the past influence how we behave in the present, perhaps resulting in unhelpful patterns of relating that leave us feeling stuck. By becoming more aware of these unhelpful patterns, we can find new ways of relating and move forward.
What to expect
The initial meeting, referred to as a consultation, is an opportunity for us to think together about what has bought you to therapy, for me to learn more about you and also for you to ask any questions you may have about therapy and how I work. Most importantly, the consultation provides an experience of what it might be like to work together.
There is no obligation to begin therapy after the consultation and it may be preferable for us to meet together for a further consultation/s before committing to a regular time together.
If we decide to work together, subsequent sessions will take place at the same time each week. Each session will be for 50 minutes.
I work on a sliding scale.
